SETTLEMENT AND ADAPTATION
CUIAS Immigrant Services provides a wide range of free settlement and adaptation services funded through the federal department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (ISAP program) and the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration (NSP program) in order to assist newcomers to settle in Canada successfully.
OUR SERVICES INCLUDE:
t Related informational booklets are translated and are available for free at our Resource Centre.
Ø Employment - assistance with resume and job interview preparation, career planning and job search skills acquisition.
Ø Application assistance - filling out applications for:
t Social Insurance Number (SIN)
t Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP)
t Canadian Child Tax Benefits (CCTB)
t GST/HST credits
t Ontario Works (OW)
t Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)
t Subsidized housing
t Permanent Residence Card (PRC) extension
t Canadian Citizenship
t Available languages: Ukrainian, Polish, Russian, Romanian and French.
Ø Counselling – providing support to people experiencing problems adjusting to new life such as landlord/tenant issues, unpaid wages, family issues, abuse and others. If necessary, we will link you with specialized services, such as health, family counseling, legal, seniors, youth services and others.
Ø Referrals - if required, we will put you in touch with other community and government agencies, including housing, health, cultural, educational, recreational, legal and other services.
